Surrounded by the other businesses under the 1986 Group’s management is Cafe 1986 which is also under the same management. The first thing that becomes apparent when you first step into Cafe 1986 is just how small the cafe is. You can easily count how many tables there are in the cafe. Fortunately, there’s still ample space to sit down and enjoy a great meal and a cup of coffee. Speaking of which, the menu largely consists of the usual suspects in most cafes, in particular burgers, spaghetti, pizzas, tapas, salads, curry chicken rice, fried rice, as well as ramen. The coffee here also follows a similar pattern, with the standout being the iced rose latte.

The creamy chicken breast at Coffee Ink stands out for its simplicity. The dish consists of a seared chicken breast covered in a French mustard sauce mixed with pickled vegetables, onions and mushrooms, served with a side of mashed potatoes and spinach. For it’s simplicity, there’s still a substantial amount of flavour to be had. For starters, the crispy sear on the chicken stands out right away upon the first bite, as well as its juiciness. The sourness from the pickled vegetables, the earthiness of the mushrooms, and the light heat from the French mustard sauce combine to make a great flavour feast that’s memorable.

halalThere’s certainly a story to tell when it comes to C U Latte, by Cheong Foh. If for some reason, the “Cheong Foh” portion of the name rung a bell, that’s because Cheong Foh has been a famous Klang kopitiam serving some of the best coffee for many years now. The establishment has two branches, one in Klang Town and the other in Bukit Tinggi. As far as C U Latte goes, simply put, it’s Cheong Foh modernised and revamped for the world of today. The food and coffee here greatly reflect the old meets new theme that the cafe is going for; with newer menu items like honey baked chicken and flat white, as well as older classics like kaya butter toast and traditional local coffee being prime examples.
