Calanthe Art Cafe
Located one street off Jonker Walk, Calanthe Art Cafe, also known to be the only cafe that is featuring the Malaysia 13 states’ coffees in Melaka. They are also serving quite a few of pan-grilled tempting french toasts ranging from the original gula Melaka taste to the westernized version. Just to name a few, they have honey on toast, french toast with ham and cheese. My favourite would be the gula Melaka on toast. Moreover, nothing beats gula Melaka when you’re in Melaka!

Eat at 18
Eat at 18 is a bakery aka. cafe. The french toast is unique in a way that it is actually a homemade white bread that is made into a french toast. Pan-fried with a generous amount of butter, this homemade french toast came as a delightful serving with some strawberries, berries and a banana that gives you a smiley face. Another specialty at Eat at 18 is the hot chocolate that comes with chocolate truffles. For the not so coffee lover, you may want to try this instead! Since it’s a bakery, you can find scones and brownies here too.

kaya-Kaya Cafe
Take a stroll along Jonker Walk and you will be able to find Kaya-Kaya Cafe (along the way to Melaka oldest Chinese temple, Cheng Hoon Teng). This cafe welcome its patrons with the touch of Baba Nyonya vibes that best describe the heritage city of Melaka. By the way, it is instagram-friendly too. If you possess a sweet tooth, opt for the french toast with blueberries and its puree! Topped with a scoop of ice-cream plus mint leaves. The homemade kaya with toast is not that bad as well!

Bess Kopitiam
The cheapest french toast in town. Do you know that with just RM4.50 you can get a cheap and nice french toast? It may be slightly further than the places of attractions in Melaka town as it is located at Bukit Baru, which is on the way to Ayer Keroh toll. Enough with the location, when you’re here, try the ground peanut butter toast! BESS Kopitiam is a modernized typical Chinese coffee shop style with the modern antique seating and some art decor.

Hainamko Chicken Rice
Hainamko Chicken Rice is located at Jalan Bendahara, also known as the Little India street of Melaka. As the name implies, it is a chicken rice shop that is serving authentic Hainanese chicken rice ball that has been passed down from generation to generation. It also has french toast on its menu. Similar to what Bess Kopitiam has, just that this time it’s just peanuts without the ground. Hainamko carries their own home brand too such as the sambal paste and coffee powder. They do have another branch at Malim Jaya too.
