Thanks to the mass popularity of K-Pop sensation that penetrated our local market these days, even Korean food is getting plenty of buzz! One of them is of course the Korean fried chicken from the award-winning KyoChon restaurant. Hailed all the way from South Korea, KyoChon is known for its MSG-free quality poultry and best of all, not as greasy as you would normally find in a typical fried chicken. This sensation comes in three types of flavours: “Original Soy Series”, “Red Series” and “Honey Series”. While both Original Soy and Red Series (glazed over with hot Korean red chilli peppers sauce) are decent enough, it is their honey-glazed fried chicken that is truly worth savouring for. It’s irresistibly crunchy to the bite and the sweetness of natural honey makes the dish all the more appetising. Upon ordering the fried chicken, you have an option of picking regular, medium or large size, while the chicken types, available with a choice of wingette and drumette, as well as drumstick.

Ipoh Steamed Tilapia in SauceNon halal 01f78899591256b47a2708a65f6538333b86089a30fbd22545a41deece4ea490

This place itself is more of a makeshift food stall sandwiched between the two shop lots along the alleyway, complete with zinc rooftop. If you’re asking why the funny name, it’s actually a direct translation from the Chinese signboard. The delicious steamed tilapia (or better known by the local Chinese as “fei zhou yu” or “African fish”) may get the credit here but many patrons frequent this stall for its signature salted egg fried chicken wings (and drumsticks). It might sound like a weird combination at first, especially for those who are so used to eating normal fried chicken, but a taste of this will have you agreeing on the recipe. Here, the chicken wings are deep-fried to perfection with the right level of crispiness, while matching well with the piquant flavour of the salted egg. Don’t be surprised if you end up addicted to them. I know I have.
    Tips

If you order the salted egg fried chicken wings, they are based on the number of pieces you want.

    Things to expect

This place is usually packed to the brim during dinner hour.
