Recently nominated for The Star People’s Food Awards, Lot 45 is a popiah stall owned by Soo Kam Tai and her husband, whose popiah has the uncanny ability to win over even the hearts of those who do not like this delicacy. An inheritance from Soo’s father, this popiah business go way back to the early 80s. Soo’s father had taught her the trade which we believe has contributed to this tasty popiah and now her siblings are also operating a popiah business in Ipoh. As early as 7am, Soo will start preparing for the day’s business. Her popiah’s filling include tauhu bakar, fresh bean sprouts, fried flour, egg and sengkuang. Adding to the final touches will be the sauce that makes the overall meal really appetizing. Also, the crunchiness from the fried flour gives it a plus point.
    Tips

Soo also sells fried tauhu, fruit rojak and sotong kangkung, be sure to check it out!

Egg Popiah @ Restoran Hock SengNon halal 01f78899591256b47a2708a65f6538333b86089a30fbd22545a41deece4ea490

Strategically located in SS2, this popiah stall in Restoran Hock Seng is notable for its popiah that is wrapped with homemade egg skin, resulting in a crepe-like texture, besides the traditional ones (the normal thin flour dough). To make a good batch of egg skin, stall owner Sio Lean Heoh uses about 23 eggs and she would wake up at 5am everyday to make them before opening her stall at 7am. With her dedication and passion in making this snack, her efforts has paid off — gaining her a nomination spot recently in The Star People’s Food Awards. What makes her popiah interesting is also the bits of prawn flour batter she adds in to give it a little crunch. If you have not tried any egg popiah before, you should definitely head here!
    Tips

You can request to moisten the popiah in some radish soup or just leave it dry.
