Housed in Restoran Hock Seng Two, this humble stall has been magnetising over a diverse crowd with their chicken curry puffs which is made from time-honoured family recipes. The real deal here is the size of the pastry that would erase off all previous notions that curry puffs aren’t fulfilling. Sporting a nice flaky crunch on the outside and a savoury ensemble of chicken, green peas, mushroom and potatoes infused with aromatic curry inside, this bulbous goodness is much more than a simple curry puff. Also, it’s consistently fresh, and there’s a takeaway box that looks attractive. Curry puffs as gifts? Why not?

Ikea
While we love Ikea as a realm of furniture and home accessories, their decent selection of snacks and dishes has a strong place in our hearts too. Despite the offerings like meatballs with fries and hotdogs, it’s the chicken curry puffs that take a cut above the rest. The kitchen is always on par with the huge crowd, churning out quantity yet not losing focus on the quality of the puffs as well. Simple and satisfying are best adjectives that relate to this savoury snack that is filled with spice-infused potato and chicken filling. For a price-tag of RM1, it’s a complete steal and not grabbing an armload back from home is close to crime.

Australian Confectionery
Another bakery in Petaling Jaya that shows equal importance to puffs as much as cakes and bread. Here, there are two options to wow your taste buds – durian and cream puffs. Both the ordinary and durian cream is made with fresh ingredients and the golden pastry that cocoons the filling hits the sweet spot between fluffiness and crispiness. If savoury is your thing, opt for their chicken puff which is extra flaky and the moreish filling only help enhance the flavours. Any of these puffs are a perfect companion for a cup of quality brew.

Châteraisé
Besides taking extremely good care of cakes and confectionaries, this Japan famous bakery is also scoring points with double cream puffs. The puffy delights are stored between other sugary treats in a stretched glass shelve. The light and airy puff is well bloated with fresh cream made from Hokkaido milk air-flown from Japan and egg custard cream. Beautifully sealed in a plastic, you can also nosh in down on the go, or pair it up with a cup of cuppa. Since these puffs do leave some stomach space, you can go for seconds or opt for their signature cakes and rolls.

Komugi Cafe has been nabbing accolades from all ages with their authentic and handmade Japanese breads, cakes and confectioneries. The aroma of fresh bread hovering in the air and wide selection of snacks will certainly reel you in. For sweet tooths, among the triumph cards is the cream puffs - bouncy puff satisfyingly stuffed with sweet and rich custard cream, then dusted with icing sugar. Some patrons opt to pair the puff with krones which are similarly filled with cream yet the outer layer is thin and crispy. Wrap up your meal with a cup of java.
