Maggi 2-Minute Noodles: Kari
Maggi is a brand that is so synonymous with instant noodles in this country that it defines the meaning of instant noodles for most of us. The ultimate classic Maggi noodles is their curry flavor; same great taste, same great feel, regardless of what other brand is out there, the original Maggi Kari Flavour would satisfy whenever the occasional craving hits. Maggi noodles, if cooked right, would be delightfully springy. The soup, although not the best of curry, still tastes like the familiar Maggi curry flavour that above all is like welcoming an old friend. It is best to put in a little bit more water if you’re cooking this over the stove, but hey, we all have that one recipe to cook our kind of Maggi Kari, right?

Cintan Mi Segera Mmm… Perisa KariCertified
halalApparently, Cintan was the first company to produce instant noodles in Malaysia. According to its packaging, the Cintan Mi Segera Mmm… Perisa Kari contains protein. Which is pretty cool. Who doesn’t want to eat instant noodles that is added with good nutrition ingredients and make them feel a little healthier? This instant noodle dish can be considered as a standard kind of instant. The soup has a mild taste of curry and it is very salty. As promised, the noodles have excellent quality, springy, and good texture. In a way, it is a very straightforward curry instant noodle. It is neither unique or unsatisfactory. With a standard size, it can be a reliable choice of instant noodle.

Mamee Chef Curry LaksaCertified
halalA fine level of spiciness, Mamee Chef Curry Laksa gives off a piquancy feeling towards its eater with traces of dried vegetables, dried tofu, and onions at the side. The curry flavour is strong enough to indicate its authenticity but what stands out the most is the delectable laksa flavour, almost as if you are eating an exact mee laksa - the presentation on its packaging says it all!. Texture wise, the noodles are average in size, however do cook them a little longer for the broth to kick in, just enough for a perfect scrumptious meal.

Maggi 2-Minute Noodles: Kari Letup
After the success of Maggi Original Kari, the brand decided to up the spicy stakes with the release of Maggi Kari Letup. Pretty much the same thing, the only difference is to cater to those who feel like getting a bit more kick but with the same taste. True to its words of marketing, it is spicier than the original version but not by much. The spiciness of this Maggi lingers for a while; the moment the soup touches your tongue, you would feel the slight difference but Malaysia being a country that adores chilli, we have had worse. That being said, if you have low tolerance to heat and you want to upgrade to something a little bit more, Maggi Kari Letup is your pick.

Vit's Toink Toink (Curry)Certified
halalFor springy noodles fans, Vit’s has launched a product range that offers super-springy instant noodles, called Vit’s Toink Toink. It is said that the noodles are so bouncy that every bite will give you a ‘toink toink’ feeling. What’s good about Vit’s is that they always succeed in delivering good quality noodles. When you eat it, it gives you a delightful taste and satisfaction. However, when it comes to the broth, you might be a little disappointed. Its colour is pale which explains the bland taste. On the bright side, you will be pleased by its big portion. With no added preservative, this 3-minute instant noodle is perfect for non-fussy eater who eats almost everything.

Koka: Signature Curry Flavour
Koka is a Singapore brand of signature curry instant noodles that stresses on the healthier option of instant noodles. With no added MSG, preservatives, and artificial colouring, this is as healthy as it gets for an instant meal, enough that it is also vegetarian-friendly. Due to these absences, the colouring of Koka Signature Curry Flavour can be a wee on the lighter side. The curry taste is also a bit downplayed; the taste is present but to people who are used to laden of MSG in their food might find this a little bland. Generally, curries are expected to be spicy but Koka strives to market this product to as many age groups and background as possible and so, the spiciness is almost absent. Mamee Curry Flavour Certified
halalProviding an average volume to the taste, Mamee Curry is not a prize-winner but definitely good enough for an undertone meal full in a bowl if it is on its own. The curry flavour is obvious complimenting the thinly thread springy noodle. Add some ingredients when cooking to enhance the flavour, then it will be too perfect for dinner.

Ibumie Mee Baa..gus Perisa KariCertified
halalThe name of this instant noodle might not sound promising. ‘Mee Baa..gus’ reminds us of some sort of children songs. The packaging doesn’t look appealing either. But, don’t judge a book by its cover. This curry flavoured instant noodle taste better than what it looks like on the outside. The broth colour is pale and its portion is a bit small. Nevertheless, the overall flavour is delicious. You can taste the curry despite its watery colour. It can be slightly spicy. So spicy fans would love this product. In case you are wondering, Ibumie is a Malaysian-based company that produces instant noodles. Not bad for a local brand.

Mamee Sllrrrp: Extra Hot
The name says it all; being extra hot as it is, this Mamee Sllrrrp series is hot in the mouth and even among consumers. Possibility of burning your tongue is high if not careful enough, especially with the sizing of the noodles being above average. Surprisingly it does not take too long to cook considering the sizing of the noodles but if ever to cook it a little longer, even the pot would be set to fire – yes, it is that hot. Not for the weak-stomach, the dish is gives off a fair amount of curry flavour however not too much in overwhelming the spiciness.

Top Valu Curry Flavor Instant Noodle Certified
halalAEON Top Valu Sdn Bhd has taken another step by manufacturing instant noodles and without an exception, a curry-flavoured one. Focusing on practicability when making it, Topvalu’s curry noodle is really easy and quick to make – within an instant, literally. Not quite a catch in terms of the taste; a little bland than your usual noodle, but the broth probably will make up to it considering the curry flavour is pretty decent.

Maggi Letup: Kari Cili Api
In another attempt by Maggi to produce a spicier curry flavour instant noodles, here’s Maggi Letup Kari Cili Api. Taking into consideration the spicy but could be spicier versions of Maggi Kari and Kari Letup, they went all out and incorporate bird’s eye chilli in their soup recipe. But in order to still make it marketable, the spiciness is controlled and a little bit subdued. However, the heat from the chilli would hit after swallowing, felt at the back of the throat. If one is not careful, it would lead to coughing and slight pain in the throat. The overall taste of the curry is somewhat different to the other two versions, but with the same springy noodles and mix of spices, plus a bigger portion at 110g per pack.

MyKuali Penang: White Curry NoodleCertified
halalMyKuali made headlines as one of the best instant noodles around after a blogger reviewed the authentic taste of the infamous Penang White Curry. The end product does have a very appetising look of vibrant dark orange colour, like that one would expect of a curry. The spices used are fragrant and the soup is creamy in texture, with its own richness and thickness. The star of the show would be the chilli paste; clearly a lot of thought went into creating a paste that would contain the crucial curry elements. The soup does give off a slight heat at the back of the mouth, but even so the spiciness is hardly anything to worry about. All in all, it is a good attempt at recreating authentic curry flavour in a packet of instant noodles.

Mamee Chef: Bihun Kari Seribu RasaCertified
halalQuite a fresh idea from Mamee Chef series, instead of the usual instant noodles most are offered on, this brand specifically provide vermicelli as an option adding a little twist to the taste. The long lean vermicelli noodles do justice to the broth that simply triumphs over everything with its authentic taste of curry yet a hint of laksa-flavour hidden somewhere. Apart from the delicious soup that one might actually drain it down, what seems to be the centre of attention among consumers is the special sambal recipe dawned by the famous Chef Ismail. No doubt, the spiciness of this dish is levelled up thanks to him.

Maggi Royale: Penang Seafood Curry
The smell and the look would remind one fondly of an actual bowl of curry noodles. The rich and creamy soup has a colour of pale orange with traces of chilli and oil, and a concentration that is quite runny and not too thick; it looks like a bowl of Penang curry with promise of flavourful sip after sip. It does not compare to the real thing that took time and effort to make, but it deserves recognition in recreating as much as it can for a meal that is cooked in a much lesser time. You can taste the spiciness but it's not something that would make you croak for a glass of water. It is definitely a better version compared to its competition of curry flavoured instant noodles.

Indomie Instant Noodles Chicken Curry FlavourCertified
halalIf Malaysia has Ibumie, Indonesia on the other hand has their very own Indomie. They have a variety of instant noodles selections that you can choose from. For your information, Indomie Instant Noodles Chicken Curry Flavour is actually a soup noodles. Don’t expect the broth to be thick, creamy and curry-like, because it is the opposite. Even though the soup has a very deep colour to it, but it does not really taste like curry. Nonetheless, this product is suitable for people who can’t tolerate spiciness in their noodles. Plus, extra points for the large quantity of mee provided.

Ibumie: Penang White Curry MeeCertified
halalHands down one of the best white curry mee out there and it cannot get any better on the fact that it is an instant product. Ibumie really knows what they are getting into. Texture wise, the noodle is above average in size and less springy than most what is expected of instant noodle, but to a surprise the noodles do not tend to get soggy even they are left for ages; a little exaggeration but the truth has spoken. The delectable broth is authentic on its taste, similar to your friendly neighbourhood curry mee stalls that have been around for generations - delicious!

Mamee Sllrrrp: Kari BerapiCertified
halalBearing at a normal rate of spiciness, Kari Berapi is definitely spicy, but worry-not folks, it is still manageable. The redness of the broth it portrays will kick your taste bud a little with its curry flavoured paste. Just a heads up, do eat it in a jiff as the noodles are quick in slurping in the soup, or else they will grow as twice as the original size!
