Just the name itself draws your attention to two things: 1) big crowd; 2) great food. The crowd doesn’t seem to scare people away nor does it affect the food quality, so that’s not much of a biggie. Let’s talk about the star of the show: the Signature Baked Eggs. Eggs are cracked into a hot plate filled with lamb, beef and chicken bratwurst, sun dried tomatoes, aubergine, potatoes and of course, cheese! It’s a filling and satisfying meal but what’s more important is that it tastes awesome.
    Tips

Reservations cannot be made during these times, so it’s first come first serve. It’s also pet-friendly! Bring your fur babies along! (Outside area only).

    Things to expect

This place gets pretty crowded over weekends (breakfast and brunch). If you’re on the waiting list, it may take up to 45 minutes.

    Best with

The baked eggs of course! Also, the barista knows how to whip up a good cup of coffee. Give it a shot!

Another great eatery at Publika, Fahrenheit 600 offers a range of food from salads to calzones to their signature pizzas. Their principles include no fried food and only using quality olive oil to prepare meals, so you won’t feel guilty after you’ve realized you ate too much. Their oven baked eggs, otherwise known as Aunty Joanna, is molten goodness of eggs and cheese with homemade sausages drenched in Napolitana sauce and topped with a couple of leafy rockets for added taste. It’s served on a wooden board accompanied with freshly baked bread, light and fluffy in texture.
    Tips

Try their coffee as well. Sure to please the coffee aficionados.

The name Breadfruits should ring a bell for those of you who love seeking out new brunch spots. However, it’s not just a café but a local market place for you to buy fresh fruits! Looking around the café, you can’t help but notice how restricted the space is. Breadfruits believes in using only the freshest ingredients, so you know you’re paying for quality food and not something out of a can. The Wholemeal Spanish Baked Bean uses fresh cannelloni beans and takes up about half the meal portion, so I suppose you have to really like baked beans before considering this dish. You also have cuts of bacon and rocket leaves topped over two eggs to enhance the existing flavours. It’s quite a decent sized meal so I have no doubts you’ll be filled after that.
    Tips

Brunch menu available til 5pm; pets are allowed but only at the outside seating area.

    Things to expect

It can get pretty crowded over breakfast and brunch; note that food served here are non-halal.

    Best with

Pair the baked eggs with a glass of freshly squeezed juice of your choice. They’re inexpensive as compared to most places (starting at RM8.90).

The version of baked eggs served at VCR differs slightly from the usual ones we’re used to. Instead of your typical Shakshuka style where everything is baked inside a hot plate and topped with loads of cheese, the Turkish Baked Eggs’ main ingredient are whole chickpeas. These are mixed with a tomato based sauce, plenty of onions and chicken chipolata sausages. Eggs are poached perfectly and served with sourdough bread, baked perfectly with a buttery centre. Would be great if they added more of that tomato based sauce and cheese to give it that ‘oomph’.
    Tips

Parking can be a hassle (not to mention you’ll actually get summoned if you park illegally), but VCR has special rates for those who park at the Swiss Garden Residence. Enquire with a member of staff to find out how you can get these rates.

    Things to expect

The café is usually packed in the morning and throughout the afternoon.

Another ‘must-try’ item on the dessert menu (if your stomach has the room) known as ‘The King’. Guess the name speaks for itself: it’s a chocolate banana peanut butter cake that is said to have the ability to rock your socks.
