Among the most desired dishes in Malaysia, Char Kuey Teow is a delicacy you can never pass through. It’s a medley of flat rice noodles, cockles, prawns, bean sprouts and eggs deftly done in a deep wok which spins and scatters over a blistering flame. This irresistible noodle definitely delivers on all accounts – sweet, spicy, crunchy, chewy, salty and most importantly it does wonders to your taste buds. Blessed with a multicultural mashup, the Malays have their own version too, a more gravy-like yet equally admirable. We have scoured the best of both worlds for you in Johor Bahru!

Cedar Point Food Centre has an abundance of goodies within. After all, it is a massive food court with many stalls. However, if you're in the mood for some char kuey teow, do not worry as theirs is pretty decent. It is nicely charred from the heat of the wok, as well as providing a smoky aftertaste. It's well seasoned and noodles are cooked till firm - lovely!

halalAre you drooling already looking at the picture above? A gargantuan “Udang Galah” sits amidst murky gravy laden with flat rice noodles, prawns, cockles, bean sprouts and smatterings of yellow noodles. The generous splash of seafood is rave-worthy, gravy is lip-smacking, along with an ideal symmetry of spice and savoury that is best enjoyed with their chopped chillies! Just so you know, it is equally satisfying and worth that Instagram shot, as depicted by the monstrous platter itself!

Char Kuey Teow Jalan RawaCertified
halalYou’re in for an impeccable bowl of Char Kuey Teow with a fire show tagging along. Upon walking in, the aromatic wafts just tugs your heart right away. Looking at your meal being prepared under an excellent fire control is sheer joy and the plate arrives piping hot with crimson-red gravy that is worth licking till the last drop. The ratio of prawns and cockles to noodles is admirable and the flavours certainly have a nod, even from the fussiest eater you can look for.
