Kar Heong Restaurant
Roasted and seasoned to perfection, the char siew at Kar Heong, is known to be quite a popular dish aside from their roasted chicken rice. The char siew is roasted until sides are in a dark brownish color which derives from the honey that’s smothered across. The char siew does not have a very charred colour but its taste simply divine so they say. Also topped with sliced scallions for garnishing. This char siew dish is cooked following the Ipoh style. Its method may be slightly different but tastes still as good as the original.

Resotran Uncle Seng
A total foodgasmic experience here at Uncle Seng. The char siew is coloured in a light orangey-red colour. A rather different take to compared to the usual char siew making it a rather unique dish. Also, accompanied with a generous bowl of scrumptious handmade noodles full of flavour. Side with a few leafy greens and wontons, this dish is an absolute favourite to many students as well workers. The char siew itself is sliced rather thinly and is all little bit on the dry sides but when mixed with the noodles it blends perfectly together. The dish is available with noodles or can be ordered as a side order.

Restoran Good Taste
A total delicacy that’s worth every bite of it. At Good Taste, you’ll love this simple char siew dish that’s all about taste rather than presentation. Although served in a simple arrangement, do not be fool by it as it tastes much more than it looks. Colour is on point as well as it is charred nicely. Hints of a slight burnt taste is what this dish is all about. When eaten, savour a mash together of a sweet juicy flavour from the sliced meat as well as a salty finish from its sauce.

1977 Ipoh Chicken Rice
The char siew here has perfectly blend of sweet and slightly salty flavour. It has a good proportion of fat and lean meat. Barbequed under charcoal fire to get that juicy charcoal aftertaste and glazed with honey for that sweet caramelised zest. Due to the intricate of their methods in cooking, it is much more fragrant and meltingly soft in texture. The char siew is kept for a minimum of 4 hours only after it’ll be ready to serve. The dish is served alongside with a deep dark sauce and sliced greens for an extra fragrant flavour.

Ong Lai
One of the many pleasures here in Ong Lai would be their famous char siew dish. Char Siew is slightly more charred. Ong Lai’s flavourful and scrumptious barbequed pork is made fresh every day. It is prepared in the early hours of the mornings for dishes that require long hours of roasting it. This particular char siew dish leans more towards the sweet side so to those who prefer it this way, you would enjoy the sweet juicy meat. The dish can be ordered on its own or you can go for the ‘3-Combo Roast Meat’ where it consists of siu yoke, char siew and roast duck.

Uncle Yap's I love Char Siu
Perfectly honey glazed char siew that fits so well in your mouth and tasting pretty good too some might say. Roasted till dark brown and lightly charred with a feel good meaty texture on the inside and sweet on the inside. The char siew has a ration of fats and lean meat that’s just about right to savour. Not forgetting the dark sauce to enhance the flavour giving a balance to a sweet yet salty overdo of the meat. If you’re in for good char siew, Uncle Yap’s is definitely the dish to get your hands on.
