Famosa Chicken Rice Ball
Standing tall and bright red in colour - Famosa Chicken Rice Ball was once known as the place to enjoy chicken rice balls along Jonker Street. Over the years, they had made a name for themselves but slowly lost its traction due to rising competition. Aside from all that, they have managed to stay in business all these years with their slightly oily, but still amazing steamed chicken and beautifully carved rice balls. As a whole, it is a lot oiler than most chicken rice balls in Melaka, which also gives it more flavour. Those that do not enjoy fat as much might not like what they have to offer.

Ku Loong Kee Chicken Rice
For those who are not a fan of Malaccan chicken rice balls, you can always opt for something more common - like Ku Loong Kee's signature chicken rice. Just beautifully cooked chicken, a handful of beansprouts and a plate of fragrant steamed, oiled rice. The restaurant is fairly small and bare with nothing much to offer aside from their services and food. Tables are rather limited as well. All and all, this restaurant is great for a small family meal, or even for tourists coming with friends.

Old Town Chicken Rice Ball
It is true that Melaka is filled with chicken rice balls. There's just so many that one might be confused at which is the best. Old Town Chicken Rice Balls on one hand, is probably one of the top few places to indulge yourself in some balls while on the other, still below the rank of other elites in Melaka. As expected, the chicken here is steamed quite beautifully - not too over nor under with just the right amount of chewiness. It is also really fresh, so tasting the essence of chicken will be lovely. On top of that, the rice balls are made quite smooth but powdery.

Heng Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball
Another option away from Jonker Street, Heng is another restaurant in loved by locals. Good reviews reckon that the chicken is tender, juicy and succulent with classic fragrant soy sauce. However, bad reviews reckon that the chicken is tasteless... These mixed reviews are jumbled in time and thus, we believe that inconsistency may be involved. The rice balls have been claimed to be absolutely delicious and less oily. Nonetheless, many locals mark this restaurant as their favourite to-go place for the dish, so you should give it a chance!More infoRestoran Nasi Ayam Heng Chicken Rice Balls View restaurant

Old Hainam Chicken Rice Ball
If you're wondering where to get good chicken rice for you and your Muslim friends, head to Old Hainam. Insisting on no pork or lard in their dishes, they substitute it with chicken oil instead and has been pulling in customers without fail. Their meat is tender and the rice fluffy. The chilli sauce isn't that spicy, but its flavourful nonetheless.
