A mound of rice, lashings of rich soy sauce and meats are cooked under scorching charcoal fire that amps up a distinctive smoky flavour while the rice soaks up all the exemplary flavours thanks to the moisture trapped inside.     A celebrity at Chai Leng Park, Lekkor Claypot House has been pampering the palates of Penangites with their signature Claypot Fish Curry Head and Claypot Chicken Rice, dig in the best of both worlds. It’s a pretty spacious and open-air dining area, yet if you find an empty table as soon as you enter, consider yourself the luckiest person. Their Claypot Chicken Rice is served piping hot, stacked with a handful of chicken, Chinese sausages, salty fish, spring onions and a gooey egg. While your nostrils cherish the fragrance, devour the glistening rice, where each mouthful kicks in with the sweetness of the sausage, tender chickens, tinge of saltiness from the fish and runny egg. Never miss their salacious bowl of fish curry too, creamy and spicy, loaded with lady’s fingers and onions.

    Viva Local Food Haven

    The name gives you a brief introduction, yet walking into this food court is absolute heaven, until the end of your sight, there are far-flung choices of local delicacies contending to quell your gargantuan appetite. As you head inside, your nostrils will be greeted with a smoky aroma, which leads you to this bustling stall, where claypots are hopping around the blistering fire by an amiable man. Hands down, just order one, the pot is filled with morsels of Chinese sausage, juicy chickens, spring onions and egg which just cracked just before coming out from the flame, it just cooks along the bubbly hot mixture. Chomp down that impeccable pot and crave for another despite being chock-full.

    Nestled in the middle floors of Sunshine Square, this widespread food court is full of life during lunch and dinner hours. You’ll easily clap your eyes onto claypots and you know where you should be heading too. This Claypot Chicken Rice stall is well-known for not being skimp on the toppings, the meat to rice ratio is fairly 50/50. Regular suspects of juicy chickens, salted fishes, spring onions and runny egg binds with the smoky rice, take in the aromatic whiff while gobbling the pot clean.

    This Chinese-style seafood restaurant is constantly packed with patrons, gormandising their scrumptious spread of ocean goodness. It’s rather secluded at Tanjung Bungah and surrounded by lush greenery that breezes in the fresh air. Among the signature dishes is Claypot Crab rice, that’s an instant mood lifter.     A modest coffee shop where locals partake to chomp down series of local delights such as Wan Tan Mee, Hokkien Mee and Char Hor Fun. The ideal stall that has earned this joint much of the fame is the Claypot Chicken rice, a generous pot of dark soy infused rice topped with slices of chicken, waxed sausages, salted fish and sprinkle of spring onions. Dig in till the layer of crusted burnt rice, which is actually the best part of the pot and bombard your taste buds with a punch of texture and flavour.
