Away from the busy city centre, one would definitely find a comfy spot to settle in whilst at Pietro - be it at the dining hall, cafe, private rooms or even their outdoor deck for that Italian piazza ambience. Start off with their complimentary warm fluffy bread dipped in thick savoury olive oil dip, followed by Taglietelle alla Bolognese. Also do try out their Fegato d’Oca which is a foie gras dish. The duck liver is pan fried to the point of having a crisp outer layer before being served on a baked caramelised apple, and drizzled with some exquisite port wine! This 1940’s style bungalow-cum-restaurant has a well kept garden and also outdoor seating arrangements overlooking a big wooden oven. While you’re here, do try out their Seafood Penne in Light Tomato Sauce. The mixed seafood includes prawn, mussels and clams which are not only fresh, but also huge. This restaurant is actually one of the oldest Italian restaurants in Kuala Lumpur. Amidst being located in a busy area, you’d loose track of the hustle and bustle of the city once you step into this quaint white bungalow with light jazz tunes playing in the background. One of the dishes that you have got to try here would be the Ravioli di Spinaci ala Caruso, which is a pasta filled with spinach and ricotta cheese, served with butter and sage sauce with generous amounts of buffalo mozzarella with eggplant, basil pesto and juicy tomatoes - Absolutely delish! Pair it up with seafood platter Grigliata di Pesce - a mixture of grilled seabass, king prawns, scallops, squid with lemon oil dressing and tomato avocado salsa. Located on the 8th floor of Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur, this place is beautifully elegant with that added victorian charm. Be prepared to be teleported to another world as you walk past the arches and pillars which gives it a rather rustic European feel. If you love salmon, please do try their Poached Scampi which comprises of smoked salmon with shrimps topped off with julienned green apple and avocados. Ciccio is a charming, rustic restaurant which serves handmade pastas and wood-fired pizzas, offering over twenty varieties of pizza. If you’re in for some cheese-esctacy, then do order the Gnocchi al Gorgonzola which is absolutely filled with cheesy goodness. Please do try one of their wood-fired pizzas too.
