If you ask any Malaysian or Singaporean
what they would like to have for tea, they would probably say Nyonya Kuih. If
you are not familiar with the term, it is actually a selection of small
desserts and munchies instigated by a Southeast Asian community – the Peranakan
folks. Which leads us to the next question – who are the Peranakan people? This
community were once a part of Malaysia and Singapore and the men is called as
Baba while the women are referred to as Nyonya. What makes them unique is that
they are basically Chinese people who embraced local cultures (Malay) into
their lifestyle which includes language, fashion and architecture.

This family-run business offers a variety of Nyonya sweet delicacies using recipes that have been passed down from one generation to another. Savoury Pumpkin Angku is one of the bestselling items offered at this petite stall. The ‘kuih’ is made of sticky rice flour cake with a different type of fillings, in this case - Pumpkin. All of the Nyonya Kuih served here are homemade including Chiffon Cakes, Assorted Puffs, Yam Cake, and many others. The fact that they are using natural colouring, natural flavours and no preservatives, is probably one of the main reasons why their items are always quickly sold out.
