Pai tee, or otherwise known as “Top Hats” is a crispy shell cup that is served with similar fillings of popiah, the sweet and freshly prepared mixture of julienned vegetables and garnished with coriander leaves. It is a common Peranakan finger food that literally fits a single mouthful and is best consumed right away. As great things usually come in small portion, the same can be applied to the best pai tee in Melaka, a dainty appetizer which is enjoyed as a substitute of “Popiah Party” nowadays.

Baba Low's
In seeking for one of the quintessential taste of Nyonya cuisines, Baba Low’s is well recognized for that. Laksa and mee siam are among some of the recommended staple food here. For light bites, despite its rather unappealing presentation, the pai tee here is a great appetizer to begin with. The fillings are plentiful and it gives a combination of sweetness from the sliced jicama and with a moderately spicy chilli sauce.
