The Canteen
Simple is the word that pops in your mind when you take a quick glance at the plate of roasted chicken served at The Canteen, courtesy of “The West” stall. The plate features a decent chunk of roast chicken that has the trademark browned exterior that you look for in a roast, a generous heap of mashed potatoes, and two sides, in particular the steamed broccoli, and buttered carrots. There’s also a generous drizzle of black pepper chicken gravy drizzled all over the mashed potatoes and roasted chicken. The chicken itself is roasted to tenderness, with the gravy and mashed potatoes providing a great deal of moisture and richness to the dish. This is balanced well with the vegetable sides giving some much needed freshness.
