A decadent and true classic, the origins of tiramisu dates back to 1960s in Italy. Unlike more traditional desserts, this classic coffee-flavored dessert does not have generations after generations of history but yet, is considered one of the most well loved desserts worldwide today. Made of finger biscuits, egg yolks, sugar, coffee, mascarpone cheese and cocoa powder, these are just the elements of the original recipe. Modern takes and different renditions have created a new world of Tiramisu desserts. With such high demand, of course we had to seek out the best ones in the thriving city of Kota Kinabalu.

Little Italy
Literally a little Italy, Little Italy serves remarkable authentic Italian cuisine and many would argue that the restaurant is the very best in Italian cuisine within the city. The menu comprises of classic Italian favourites such as pizzas, pastas and of course, tiramisu! The restaurant also has a small(er) selection of Russian and Chinese food as well. More attractively, everything is very pocket-friendly!

Party Play is named as such as the restaurant is the epitome and symbol of all things fun and enjoyable. We especially love the little dessert platters that they offer such as our favourite, The Italian Job. This platter comes with tiramisu, pannacotta, affogato and espresso at an affordable RM 26. If you adore mille crepe cakes, chances are you will adore Cafe de Vie as well. Yup, you guessed it. The cafe makes gorgeously layered mille crepe cakes in an extensive variety of flavors. Our favourite is none other than the focus of this list, Tiramisu. If you're not into mille crepe and prefer conventional classic Tiramisu instead, Cafe de Vie has it too!

This themed cafe is definitely one to consider visiting if you love coffee and cakes (and cuddly soft toys). Teddy N Me is brightly lit with natural daylight, cool tones and white furniture. While hot food is vastly available in terms of choice, make sure you check out the dessert menu as well which incorporates sweet treats such as red velvet cheesecake, chocolate mousse and of course, our favourite Tiramisu. Tiramisu Treats
Tiramisu Treats is a specialty cake cafe with one item on the menu only. Yup – You got it. Tiramisu, it is. This homebakery does not have a physical branch and only takes preorders instead. Consisting of four layers alternated in total, the Tiramisu is made out of two delectable layers, one of which is of sponge fingers soaked in coffee and the other is of lovely cream. Finally, cocoa powder is garnished on top for the final touch.

If you love divine views, lush surroundings and luxurious comfort, chances are you will also love the Lobby Lounge of Pacific Sutera Hotel. The area is a comfortable spot for lovely cakes and afternoon tea. We especially love the affordable Afternoon Tea Set here which clocks in at RM 65++ for 2 pax. The selections of cakes and pastries in the set vary daily, but if you're not into that you may also order from a selection of cakes in their ala carte menu.
