In the midst of all the trendy and fancy desserts that dominated our local market these days, sometimes it’s nice to indulge in a good old-fashioned sweet treat. Enter Soon Kee Herbal House, a little dessert shop located just beside the two-storey building of Kheong Kee Bak Kut Teh restaurant (formerly Dolphin Café). On the surface, Soon Kee Herbal House may look like a simple setup that characterised a traditional Chinese dessert shop. But beyond that, this dessert shop is packed with lots of homemade goodness. Walk over to their fridge, and get ready to drool over with their wide choice of chilled desserts such as Sweet Potato, Corn & Water Chestnut, Gingko & Barley and Honey Dew Sago. If you’re a first-timer in this shop, one particular dessert you shouldn’t be missed out is their best-selling Longan Taufu. It’s like a “tau fu fa” (soybean/tofu pudding), except they are shaped like jelly cubes. Then there’s the juicy longan. Mixed them altogether, and you’ll be delighted with their refreshing combination of the tofu cube and longan fruit served over a bowl of sugar water (tong sui). It isn’t overly sweet either, while the tofu cube itself is silky smooth.
    Tips

Since Longan Taufu is the shop’s No.1 bestseller, it’s wise that you get it fast though since this particular dessert sells like hot cakes.
