Say hello to the closest contender to chicken rice and this gorgeous bird is full of ghetto, commonly sharing space with its rival and earning its own loyal following. Duck rice is a simple and straightforward dish, either roasted or braised duck coupled with a mound of warm rice and doused with soy sauce and a sprinkling of spring onions. The real deal is obviously the meat. An exemplary one would have luscious layers of smoky skin, fatty layer, and tender meat that offer a satisfying mouthful. Yes, it’s easy to lose your heart to this delectable dish which is why it’s highly vaunted by the locals. These eateries have never failed to be a part of the day-to-day conversation among the people of Johor Bahru. Quack-ly head over!

Yellow Lips Cafe
We may be biased over our regular duck rice spot but every here and then, a change is required, both the environment and flavours. First of all, walking into this cosy cafe reminds you nothing about your previous duck rice scenes and their rendition on the latter will blow your mind away. Thick yet tender slices of smoked duck and a bouncy poached egg is perched on steamed rice then sprinkled with sesame seeds and lashes of soy sauce. The duck is second to none and erases off previous notions you had on duck rice, while the poached egg adds a subtle layer of creaminess. Wrap up your meal with a quality brew and yes, the environment does feed your Instagram account, unlike others in the listing.
