Best Ice Kacang in KL

Written by Updated ago

Otherwise known as Ais Kacang or ABC (Air Batu Campur), ice kacang is a popular local dessert consisting of shaved ice topped with Gula Melaka syrup or coloured syrup, toasted peanuts and evaporated milk. The colourful ingredients that are placed into a bowl are typically cendol, red beans, creamed corns and grass jelly cut into strands or cubes. Depending on the stall and outlet, a scoop of ice cream is also added atop the shaved ice to complete the tantalising experience of your sweet taste buds. Perfect to cool your body down during scorching hot weather!

Just as the name suggests, Brilliant Nasi Lemak House is famous for its variety of nasi lemak dishes, however their desserts are no slouch either. Certainly an ideal match, as the refreshing dessert sure puts all those spiciness at bay and there are three versions to choose from. But what’s really intriguing is their delicious Red Bean with Cashew Nut. I mean, how often you get to enjoy a bowl of finely shaved ice with cashew nuts? Quite unlikely, no? Overall, it hits the right spot between taste and texture.

    Tips

You’re in luck if you want your main course that comes with a dessert. At RM17.80, you’ll get a hearty plate of nasi lemak consists of fried chicken drumstick, sambal prawn and prawn as well as a bowl of their leng chee kang (sweet lotus dessert) variation known as Brilliant’s Dessert.

    Things to expect

You’ll get your money worth since their Red Bean with Cashew Nut is fulfilling enough.

Located near the T-junction at Jalan Kepong Baru, Fei Zai Long (literally means “Fat Boy Long”) or Fatty Loong is popularly known by the locals for his signature ice kacang dessert. What makes Fatty Loong’s ice kacang such a sought-after dessert is its soft-shaven ice. Unlike the coarse and flaky shaved ice often found in most stalls, the ice here is so smooth that goes easy into your mouth. Also check out its thick and sweet Gula Melaka syrup and the generous amount of sweet ingredients blanketed at the bottom of the shaved ice. You name it – red bean, cendol, grass jelly, roasted peanuts, sweet corns and even nata de coco thrown in for a good measure!

    Tips

For an additional RM0.50, you can request for extra ingredients to go with your ice kacang dessert.

    Things to expect

No artificial syrups are used to make the ice kacang dessert look colourful.
