The crispy pastry tart is generously filled with sweet and spicy mélange of julienned vegetables and dollop of sauce. With speckles of colour and texture, it’s appealing and keeps you munching all day long. The ready-made pastry shell can be grabbed in supermarket shelves, but we are Food Advisor, we have drilled down the best in Penang, made fresh and full of flavours. Time for pai tee party!

Kek Seng Coffee Shop
This old-school is famous yet also surprising to many. How often do you see a coffee shop serving local delights such as chicken rice, char keoy teow and lobak, also being praised for their homemade durian ice cream? However once you step in, you can never leave without a shot of their appealing dessert. Their pai kee is commendable too, which permits fun interplay of texture at every bite, the tart crackles and shatters, oozing out all carrots, Chinese turnip and a spoonful of chili sauce.
