Udon. Getting the satisfaction of thick and chewy noodles has now become quite the chore when you cannot find a combination besides the common Kake Udon, which consists of the tasty soy sauce based soup. Considered a comfort food to most, despite whether or not you are a fan of Japanese food, this is the closest thing to fill your desperate tummy when it is yearning for something warm and filling at the same time. Getting more creative with menus, most Japanese restaurants have now extended their fare to include udon combos with the available sushi. Leave the Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene aside and slurp the bowl clean all to yourself with these picks in Subang Jaya.

Rakuzen
Besides great sushi, Rakuzen offers a range of udon noodles sets for you to choose from. Their bowl is using a reasonable claypot to sustain the heat and to also preserve the goodness from floating away with the steam. Sets all include a number of side dishes like miso soup, a plate of selected sushi and not forgetting some pieces of fruits to cleanse your palate after you are done. It may be slightly pricey but your tummy will definitely thank your wallet for it.

Sanuki Udon Hanamaru
If udon was the main focus of any restaurant, this place has it done right. Focusing on one might call it a very niche yet enough variety to choose from, Hanamaru offers the simplest combination like the standard Bukkake Udon which is noodles served with a half-boiled egg and some spring onions to the one cooked with chicken soup instead of the usual broth. They even take the privilege to prepare the basic bowl which only has the noodles and shredded nori.

Tomoe Japanese Restaurant
Managed by a genuine Japanese chef, Tomoe has managed to interest us with their range of Udon. Choose between the souped ones or the dry and cold kind, the menu will not disappoint. The simplest of cold udon is the Inaniwa Udon and instead of the fat type, it is fine wheat noodles served with a small bowl of soba sauce for you to drizzle over. If you are feeling experimental, take the Kamo Nabeyaki Udon which is noodles with simmered duck. The combination may sound rare but it seems the duck meat manages to enhance the taste for smooth and springy udon.

MOF Japanese Dining
Founded by an inspired chef who took up culinary arts in Japan, MOF Japanese Dining can be considered one of the great Japanese dining restaurants with quite budgeted prices; without affecting the quality of all their dishes. Going straight to the Udon, their menu might interest the most of us because of it being served with delicious deep-fried fare. What is even greater is that your Udon will be served in a bowl while your deep fried items will be placed separately in a different plate to keep it dry and crunchy.

Sakae Sushi
If Sakae Sushi has something worth eating, it will be their udon. With undeniably springy and smooth noodles mixed together with some decorative but edible fish ball in a bowl of tasty soup, you are in for a treat. A few recommended bowls would be the soup udon with tempura or even the curry udon. Filled with a very delectable and thick texture of Japanese curry, the udon is nicely blended and they are very generous with the ingredients added.
